Dear Friends,
As the Atelier is a self-isolation zone most of the time, work continues here with my usual winning smile (as pictured). I am working on an exciting project: a custom bass for a client in Austria. Based on an unusual old English model by an unknown maker, It is a very broad instrument, particularly in the centre bouts with a flat back and gamba corners. The current challenge is the careful working out of the complex geometry to ensure good playability with the instrument’s 'ample‘ girth. One of my favourite things is working with people to create unique and personalised instruments.
The Atelier is open: I am here to care for your instruments and bows Monday to Friday.
